Scholars win Iranian Cinematic Research Awards honorable mentions

TEHRAN – The 2nd edition of the Annual Iranian Cinematic Research Awards was held at the Iranian Academy of Arts on Tuesday. While the jury did not choose winners for the three main categories, top scholars did receive honorable mentions.

“Techniques of Selecting Films to Screen in Iranian Theaters in the 2000s” by Mohammadreza Rasuli and “The Analysis of the Concept of Genre in Iranian Cinema” by Vahidollah Musavi were honored in the thesis category. Amir-Reza Tajvidi also won an honorable mention in this section.

In the article category, “Folklore and Its Impact on the Kolah-Makhmali Genre of Filmmaking in Iran” by Seyyed Ali Ruhani and Puyan Ghafari, and “Construction of a Special Intellectual Woman in Iran’s Post-Revolution Cinema” by Sareh Amiri and Ehsan Babai received honorable mentions.

In the research plan category, Alireza Einifar for his project on the development and reconstruction of movie theaters in Iran, and Siavash Salavatian for his project on financing in cinema were honored.

In addition, Iranian documentarian Mohammad Tahaminejad received a lifetime achievement award.

The awards have been established by the Cinema Organization of Iran (COI) to honor top research centers, works, articles and theses on cinema.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Hossein Entezami, the acting-director of the Cinema Organization of Iran, expressed his hope that the event would continue for years to come.

He also asked universities and research centers to collaborate with the event.
